Spencer Kagan is a famous author who is well recognized for his research on establishing harmonious classrooms, promoting responsible behavior, improving students' social skills, character qualities, and academic achievement through cooperative learning structures.
Your objective in this entry is to read chapter two on our text and write your insights on the following key concepts:
(in your own words, not literally from the book)
- Two or three differences between an activity and a structure.
- Two or three differences between a competitive and a cooperative structure.
- Explain the steps of "think-pair share," "Numbered Heads Together" and the benefits for both the teacher and the students.
Remember that opinions can not be exactly the same.
Children learn best if they play games in class, using their physical activity to develop their skills in order to learn the structures of the grammar or the language.
ResponderBorrarIn my opinion cooperative learning is when children learn to work together, in pairs or groups, they learn to socialize with their classmates and their teacher, on the other hand I think the competitive learning is when children try to capture the teacher attention by giving the right answer, seeking for their teacher’s praise.
Think-pair-share
Think: The teacher provides the topic, students work with another student to discuss the topic. They both think and analyze the same topic.
Pair: Students are in pairs to share their thoughts and ideas.
Share: The students share their ideas with the class.
This technique allows students to articulate their ideas and to consider those of others and also increase the kinds of personal communications that are necessary for students. Sharing their ideas, students take ownership of their learning and negotiate meanings rather than rely solely on the teacher’s authority.
Karen J. Viana
The children learn best doing activities to develop an específic topic in class and they practice theirs skills in this process they learn of diferents structures of languages.
ResponderBorrarI think the diferent is competitive is when the child wants ti captivate the teacher and always participate in class anda cooperative is when the student work in groups for learn better.
Think-pair-share is when teacher give the topics and the students work together and discuss the topic.
The benefit of students they have the opportunity yo share ideas and hace time with the classmate and the teacher is just a guide.
The difference between is activities have a clear and specific objective and structures is divided per grades levels and different points helping by cooperative learning.
ResponderBorrarDifferences between competitive and cooperative structures its when the teacher catch the attention one by one with each student creating interdependence among them.
Think-pair-share its like a strategy very important to develop between students because all students can participate free in the classroom, also they can share their own thoughts. This technique can facilitate the process to learn more easily.
Ana Esther Pineda
ResponderBorrarActivities have objectives that are related to a specific content and cannot be applied to all educational subjects and the structures can be used in any topic that is being studied and it can also be applied to all levels teachers can use them since preschool all the way to college.
In the competitive structures students are willing to participate in order to get teacher’s attention, if one of the students answer wrongly other has the opportunity to answer correctly and that creates displeasures among themselves and the cooperative structure helps students work as a team, in each team students discuss the questions in order to manage the same answers.
Think-Pair Share
Among the steps we can find:
1. The teacher makes a question.
2. Students think the answer.
3. They discuss the answer with a partner.
4. They share the answer with the whole class.
Benefits for students
Students can think about the answers, they share with others and they feel integrated
Benefits for teachers
Teachers can think more about the questions and can observe and listen to students.

ResponderBorrar1. Activity is strategies that teachers use at the moment to give the class, as long as this related to a specific content and the structure can be used on any subject under discussion.
ResponderBorrar2. In my opinion cooperative learning is a means by which the child can share your ideas, thoughts, emotions etc. with his classmates and teacher, with the purpose of creating in him teamwork and socializing with others. On the other hand the competitive learning implies that the child is more focused on doing things on their own, to take the opinions of their classmates, so rivalry between students is presented.
3. Think-pair-share is a technique by which the student provides the ability to organize their own ideas and share it with the rest of the class through questions, considering three steps.
Think: This step allows the child to think freely, forming their own ideas or thoughts that will release
Pair: this step are grouped in pairs to discuss their ideas or thoughts as this allows the child to give their opinion of what you think and consider what your partner thinks.
Share. In this step the student shares his thoughts towards others and takes into account what their peers share to him.
In students this technique has the ability to think and reason well their ideas.
In teachers is easier because he uses the class discussion and through this technique identifies, observes and listens to the answers of the students.
Activities almost always have an objective and also can't be used to deliver a range of academic content, so thus are most used as strategies of that the teacher apply. In the other hand, Structures has an academical purpose.
ResponderBorrarCompetitive structure is more individually, because the teacher's attention and praise are centrated in just one student, which also creat poor social relations and others class problems. In contrasts, The Cooperative structure builds positive ínterdependence, and lead the ability to help other and think as a group because all members share their ideas and answers.
Thinking- pair-share is a good option that teachers can apply because all students interact and both try to organize their ideas, making a participative atmosphere índice the clases. Also the teacher has the facility to observe how the students interact and share ideas, opinions and the capacity that the student have to expresa him/herself.
The difference is activities have a specific content and structures usually involves steps and have an academic range.
ResponderBorrarCompetitive is when children try to catch attention of the teacher and try to respond all the question competitive: they make groups to work and obtain a good result and also they learn of the others.
Think pair share: strategy to students have participation in the classroom, they can express their ideas, feelings if they are agree or disagree with something.
.-An ACTIVITY is an exercise that the techer appointed to the develop a class or objective, and a STRUCTURE are all different steps that must be followed for the development of activities.
ResponderBorrar.- COMPETITIVE STRUCTURE is when students try to give the correct answer to a question given by the teacher and they give individual ideas, instead COOPERATIVE STRUCTURE, students interact within the classroom, work in groups and share ideas, this helps increase the verbal communication of students.
.-THINK-PAIR-SHARE
Think: students listen and analyze the topic given by the techer, and think about the possible answers to the questions.
Pair: with others discuss and share ideas about possibles answers.
Share: students share with all classmates their possibles answers.
What are the benefits to students and teachers?
For both is a technique with wich they can develop mental abilities. students think about how to respond and teachers analyze if the answers are correct, this technique is easy to learn.

1. An activity is used for specific objectives and subjects in the class. Otherwise, a structure can be used in different situations and subjects, and also can be used for different grade levels.
ResponderBorrar2. A competitive structure is when students work individually and only the students who want the teacher's attention answer every question. In this case not all of them have the opportunity to participate. On the other hand, in the cooperative structure students can work together in groups, sharing their opinions with each other. All of them can participate in different ways.
3. In Think-Pair-Share students have the opportunity to work in pairs and together think and discuss for the best answer. After that, they can share their responses with the whole class.
The benefits for the students: They have enough time to think very well before they share their answers. Also, they have more confidence because they interact with their classmates.
The benefits for the teacher: Students are more interested in participate in class. They give better answers and as a result, the class becomes more interesting with a better atmosphere.

Activities are specific projects that teachers assign in a specific content and subject while structure are ways of organization that teacher can use to develop any content.
ResponderBorrarCompetitive structure is when teacher ask question and the whole class have a opportunity to participate in answering the question however, not every student is enthusiastic to participate or has the opportunity to do it. Moreover, cooperative structure is when students work in small groups where every student has an opportunity to listen and talk with others sharing their ideas.
First, students listen to a problem that they will solve or a question, after that, they think and discuss their answer with a partner, finally, they share their ideas with the class. The benefit of students is that they have time to think in their own ideas, share their thoughts with another person; enriching their knowledge and being more confident when they answer the question; because they did not do it alone, they discuss the question and affirm their ideas with someone else. Meanwhile, teachers have a motivating class where the whole class participates also, they have time to observe and create new question according of the students responses.
Students have more opportunity to learn when we use playa games to teach un clases.using their physical activity to develop their skills to improve your language and improve toó the procesos to learn different estructures of language.
ResponderBorrarUn muy own opinión cooperative learning is when our students help others un the clases, because they can work un París por un groups.they learn to socialize with differents types of people around their, and un the future they would be a good leader i think the competitive learning is when the studen try to do the things por tour task themself giving the correct or right answer forma their teachers por classmates.
Think-pair-share. Is when the teacher provide all the tools that the child need to use un the clases, the students will be able to work with another student to discuss the topic they would think and analyze the structure to the topic.
an activity is the asignation that the teacher give at the student to develop some exercises and the estructura is how the student make the activity using some specifics technic, the structure competitive is when each student give the best of themself to get wonderful resulted and. The structure cooperative is that the students collaborate as a United group and get a lot of information or help to improve in their grades school.
ResponderBorrarThink-par-share:
* The teacher makes a question.
* Students think the answer.
* They discuss the answer with a partner.
what are the benefits to the teachers and the student?
the student are more involve in the participation of the class and this action benefit that the teacher deliver better the class and be effective to
both of them.

ResponderBorrar-An activity is a dynamic way to improve the student's bound with the content that's being taught to them. A structure is a way to keep on going with a lesson taught during long periods of time.
ResponderBorrar-A competitive structure makes the students compete against each other for the teacher's attention and praise. This ends up in individuality between classmates. A cooperative structure increases team work and positive interdependence.
Explain the steps of "think-pair share" and the benefits for both the teacher and the students.
-The teacher formulates a question while his students listen to him/her.
-Students are given enough time to think about an answer to the teacher's question.
-Students are asked to pair with a classmate and discuss their responses.
-Finally, students share their answers with the rest of the group.
Benefits for students:
They are allowed to think deeply about their response and discuss it with their classmates in a more confident way; after, they continue to share their response with the rest of the group.
Benefits for the teacher:
Like students, teachers have more time to think. More students participate because of the confidence they feel by discussing with their classmates before exposing their ideas to the rest of the class. The teaching-learning experience becomes more relaxing for both students and teacher.
The activities make that the students learn more fast in their own, because activities make them think by their own so some students learn easy and fast by the activities. The structural makes more relationship in the students because they share ideas and the students understand by the ideas that other students give.
ResponderBorrarThe competitive makes that students answer the question by their own because each one thinks and they look to compete with the others because they want to show that they understand, but that makes a poor relationship. The cooperative makes that the students share their ideas because they want to have the correct answer and they create a nice relationship.
Think-Pair-Share is a the best way to teach because it helps students to think individually about a topic or answer to a question then they learn to share ideas with their classmates and builds oral communication skills and finally focus the student's attention and the students learn by comprehending the reading material.

ResponderBorrar-I think the difference is an activities are the actions that the teacher does with students in class and structure it is how the teacher plans the activities to do with his students.
ResponderBorrar-Competitive is when the student demonstrates his attention by participating in class trying to answer for himself the right answer and cooperatice is when the student works in a team.
-think-pair share: students listen carefully when the teacher says the question.
They take some time to think about the answer.
then they share their answers with a partner
and finally they share the answer to all the class.
Benefits for students: they improve the ability to think mentally answers and share their ideas with others.
benefits for teachers; the teacher can observe the development of students and can be a relaxing way to evaluate any subject and is easy to use.
Angely Montoya
Activity is something that is done as work for a particular purpose and help to student doing drills to develop their abilities and that way they can participate in class while a structure are way the teacher can used to organize and develop any content.
ResponderBorrarcompetive is when some student have the opportunity to answer question because the teacher only ask. On other hand, cooperative structure is when students work in groups where each student has opportunity to talk with others sharing their ideas.
Think-Pair-Share students can be able to work in pairs and together think possible answers. Thus, they can share their responses each other.
The benefit to student:they can think in their own answer also they can to share their thinking whith their partner.
The benefits to teacher: they have the opportunity to observe better how students response. more student answering questions.
1- ) In my opinion a activity is a support tool for the introduction of a theme and its development, and the structure is embodied a protocol development before the development of teaching a class.
ResponderBorrar2- )It is an unconditional support to one or more colleagues who have difficulties at the time to learn something new in this way ideas and different ways of learning, making this easier way understanding of teaching you will provide. And the other is a way to make the child demonstrates the different intellectual and individual capabilities it possesses.
3-)It is a strategy that leads to the development of an easier activity, and such knowledge of the different views provided between participants are acquired.
The benefits of this are:
Active relationship between teacher and student.
It is given the opportunity to demonstrate the capabilities of each student.
Active participation in the development of the class.
MIGUEL ALFREDO CRUZ
1 structure: there are some steps that teacher develop following a sequence of diferents parts that a topic contain having a strategic plan to achieve a successful the teaching of a subject. Activity: teachers have a lot of imagination to create activities to achieve the objective about a topic is not necessary follow steps Just do Well the activities 2. Cooperative: in this case students work in small groups answering some questions and is easy because they can help each other. competitive: in this case the students defend that they know against other;each Student is an active participant when each one answer the question does of individual form. 3.Think pair-share: the students listen the question, then they think about the question, discuss and paír and then with whole group for a little time.... This is important for the students because then share information and they can learn diferents things about the topic with their Classmates.. For teacher this activity is easy because Just need pay attention to the students about the question that they give them and they know what the Students know and what they need to learn and help to the students to develop the social relation ship and this is important in the Class.
ResponderBorrarActivities are different jobs or assignments presented by the teacher to his students to better understanding of a subject. Structure is the way used by the teacher to teach content in a given time.
ResponderBorrarcompetitive structure is when the teacher asks questions a student but if the others are wrong have the opportunity to participate taking dynamism to respond and cooperative structure is when students work with peers in small groups taking the opportunity to compare their answers with others.
Think -pair share: is a technique where the student has the opportunity to interact with peers who think differently than they way you help them develop the academic and cognitive part. The teacher has the opportunity to observe how they relate and reach the understanding of issues thanks to the explanation of his classmates
Activities are only used with one specific purpose and the structures involve steps and can be used in many points in the lesson plan .
ResponderBorrarIn the competitive structure the participation is individual and volunteer , in the cooperative students work in groups and all of the members are forced to participate in some way .
There are 3steps :
Think : they think independently about the question and form their own ideas .
Pair : they make pairs and discuss their thoughts
Share : they share their ideas with the whole class.
Benefits:
Students can share their ideas in several ways, they obtain knowledge from their peers cause they listen to each other , they feel confident about their thoughts .
Teachers: he keeps the students attention , he makes all the students participate and he also improves students' reading comprehension
Activities: well, these are good strategies that involve direct experiences by students rather than textbook study.
ResponderBorrarStructures: this is more complex system than activities. It's more organized and teacher can evaluate student in a best way because this involve more academic contents.
Cooperative:I think that this is used by teacher in order to do activities with students and put them to compete with each otherand put students to participate in clas to be more successful.
Cooperative: I think this activity is used with the purpose the students work together and can share ideas, opinions to help them when they are working together and they have to answer a question.
Teps of think-pair share: this a good option because children work together and they share their own ideas. If a teacher give them a question they have to analyze before to response the questions they have to discuss and think and after response the question teachers give them.
Benefit for students: the students are developing a mental analysis thinking how to respond a question, they can share their own ideas etc..
Benefits for teachers: Student can advance more about how to respond the ques if they have more time for responding the question, but the teacher has the opportunity to do a higher-order questions and this can be more relax for the teachers.

1. In my opinion the children have better learning when doing activities that are developed in classes and practice the lessons learned.
ResponderBorrar2. The difference between competitive and cooperative is when the child wants to get the attention of the teacher and that makes being competitive and wants to give a good answer.
3. Think-Pair-Share here it is when the teacher puts them to work in pairs and when children begin to share ideas. and benificio teacher is that only will be watching and will make you ask the teacher.

3.Think-pair share
Think: the teacher gives students the topic and they analyze it in a group.
Pair: students think and discuss the answers in groups.
share: students share possible answers with their classmates.
The benefits for students: they are more interested in the participation of the class sharing their opinions.
The benefit for teacher: he is a guide and have the opportunity to observe and think about the answers of their students

the difference between activities and structure is that teachers designs activities to a specific purpose but teachers cannot use the same activity because there would be no surprise or curiosity on children. In the other hand structure can be teach direct or indirect way, because is present en everything; also the teacher can give a lot examples, exercise etc.
ResponderBorrarThe difference between competitive and cooperative: Competitive structure is when the teacher give to the students a question and the student has the capability to answer but, if someone answer wrong somebody else can answer the question, this participation is individual. In cooperative student can work in group and they can talk, participate and give their ideas in order to help the group, in this case everybody have a role.
Three-Step interview: 1.students have the opportunity to talk to each other and organize themselves in small groups. 2.toman diferentes roles en la entrevista, los entrevistadores y entrevistados y viceversa. 3.they'll be able to to express in front other what they learned in the interview. Some Benefit are that this activity can make student to be confident speaking with others also, all of them are working independently and organised. To the teacher can observe and take note and reinforce the students' weaknesses. Definitely this structure is useful to us as a teacher.
Activity: Provides students the opportunity to develop their learning during the class aplying different concepts and STRUCTURE is the way to teach some topic with steps developed in the class.
ResponderBorrarCompetitive- cooperative
Competitive structure involve the participation of each student in a individual way to look the capacity of the children and cooperative students participative un groups to share their capacity to resolve and do somenthing.
Think- pair- share
It is a strategy where students think and analize together some topic provided by the Teacher in a easy way.
Benefits to Teachers: they have the opportunity to teach observing the reactions of students during the class. It's easy to use.
Beneficts to students: Students have an opportunity to share their thinking before to answer some questions to the Teacher. It's easy to learn.
1. Activities: have a specific objective. Children learn more with this activities and they have to think.
ResponderBorrarStructure: following some steps and it is divided in grades levels for improve the activities.
2.Competitive structure: the students want to have the attention of the teacher and they want to say a correct answers. The lose the opportunity for the attention when another students answer correctly.
Cooperative: the students work in grups. They learn when they talk and share ideas with their classmates.
3. Think-pair-share
Think: they listen and analyze the questions for possible answers.
Pair: the students discuss their ideas with a classmates.
Share: they share their thoughts and possible answers with all their classmates.
The benefits for both are: the students have time to think for possible answers, they share their opinions. The teacher can listen each students, teacher can concentrate when he ask them. Class discussion can be relaxing experience.
I think the difference between structure and activiy is that of the students make a lot Of activities they learn better and also they develop difference topics in the classroom and structure is a series of steps that students follow to learn about language
ResponderBorrar2. I think the difference between competitive and cooperative structure is that in competitive structure the students study alone and complete their own assignment and also often compete with each other for the best grades and the cooperative structure students work in a whole group to Maxine their own learning as well that of each student in the group
3. Step #1 ten student think independently about some questions
Step#2 students are troupe in Pairs yo discuss thoughts this step allows students to articulate their ideas
Step#3 students share ideas to whole gruop

1. Activity: This almost always has a specific objective, which many not always be used to provide academic content.
ResponderBorrar-Structure: Even though it has a series of steps, it can used at different times, in almost any topic.
2. Competitive: The teacher's attention is focused specially on a specific student, and also the students have a negative social relationship because they work individually.
-Cooperative: The teacher's attention is focused an students or group, because they work together and share their ideas. Everyone a is ready to participate in different ways.
3.Think: after students hear the questions, they'll have time to think about their responses.

An activity is when children are practicing introductions to begin a class, and a structure are philosophies of education and lead to variations in types of learning and cooperation.
ResponderBorrarThink-pair share: Is a strategy that gets develop through the process and procedure of acquisition of knowledge to encourage students participation in the classroom, where students also listen while the teacher poses a question.
The first step consist in explain to the students the new way of learning which will be on working in groups, where they will be able to help each other to learn better a special topic.
Second step introduction of expert groups: In the expert groups they will be able to talk about their topic and decide what are the most important things about it. They will be able to share information and point a leader for each expert group, they add ideas.
Third step expert reports: Students return to their teams and report on what they learned in their expert groups, again students should emphasize the main points and anticipate what might be on quiz.
The benefits for both are: students become expert in analyze different topics and be able to explain in the better way, in the other hand teachers can take the class more relaxed and create a good atmosphere.
An activity is an assignation that the teacher gives at the student and also is a content more specific and structure are ways of organization that the teacher can use to develop any content.
ResponderBorrarCooperative structure. Is when students work in groups where each student has opportunity to talk with other. And competitive is when the students demonstrates their abilities and give good answers and is an individual participation.
Think-pair-share is when the teacher puts the students to work in pairs and then they bigin to share differents ideas. And the teacher's benefits is that they have the opportunity to observe better how students response more students answering questions.
1. In my opinión the diference between activity and structure is estructure is about the plan for the class It have all the ideas and objectives we want to get and the activities are realized.
ResponderBorrar2. Competitive is when the teacher give only a one student the oportunity to participate and answer the question for eexample buy cooperative is when the teacher tells a question but he o she gives the oportunity for all the class to participate
3. Think: the teacher provides the problema or exercise yo the student's group then they analize That
Pair:in group students search the best Way to solve the problem, all of them must to participate to be ready for the next step
Share:then when they have found the answers or solutions and present the ideas to the rest of the class.
The benefit for teacher can be she or he can make more creative activities for the class and to have more student's participation
And the student feel more trust to participate in each class.

• Activities have specific purposes or it can apply with an only objective. Structure can use in different range of grade levels and has several steps.
ResponderBorrar• Competitive Structure is when a teacher wants to know something, asks question and the class has the opportunity to response. Cooperative structure, the class works in small group, they share their opinions and work together.
• Think Pair Share: It is a multi-mode that it is used to encourage student participation in the class. The teacher has a question and student listen it. Student take time to reply that question. And they discuss the responses in groups. Finally they share their responses with all the class.
• Benefits: Students have the opportunity to create their own responses. They think critically and share their opinions. But also, they develop their communication skill.
1. The difference between an activity and a structure, is that the activity is more design to social collaborative purposes, and the structure is more designed to build cognitive and academic content.
ResponderBorrar2. The difference between a competitive and a cooperative structure is that the competitive is more designed to build cognitive and academic development, and the cooperative also builds cognitive but with emphasis to social development.
3. The benefits for the students is that: They can prepare and answer with ahead of time, and to reflex in group before sharing their answers.
4. The benefits for the teacher: Students are interested in participating in class. The class becomes more interesting through participation. The environment becomes creative
An activity in my opinio is a technique that the teachers use for improve some skills in the students. And the structure is the way in the students to keep on going with a lesson, and share ideas.
ResponderBorrarCompetitive structure, is the way that students show their knowledge and they can compete with their classmates.
Think pair share, is a good way to learn and also to teach. Because the students learn how to think individually about a topic. And the teacher make easier, his teaching because the student keep in control his own learning process. The student also learn how share their ideas, for example with brainstorming, and in this way the students can develope their communicative skills and also their reading skills.

the actiity and structore is a paradigma this technical is a design to the collaborative purpose, so taht the structure build human cognitive,however there are a different between compitive acording to every activityat the class is for comunication the teacher need is the goal or the produce, every activity approach,is for comunication activity work at the school,the reacher want to about the different method and technical,is for undestanding at the teaching with their students..}
ResponderBorrarThe difference between an activity and structure is that the activity is only can be used in some topics and the structure can be used in all the topics.
ResponderBorrarCOMPETITIVE: all children work individually and each one try to give a good answer to the question made for the teacher. The student faster has the opportunity to give the answer.
COOPERATIVE: Children help each other. Children are not shy help other student that has shame to participate in class.
THINK-PAIR-SHANE:Students work in pairs and they discuss an answer that each student has, after discussed they share their ideas with other classmate, then make only one answer.
BENEFICIT OF STUDENTS AND TEACHER: students have time to think and formulate a good answer also they learn to work with another classmate and share opinions.
Teacher has the opportunity to listen different opinions of their student. The class is relaxing because all children participate in each activity realized for the teachers.
