The Writing Process

Hello Class!

Today you have to read about the writing process and write a comment on this post where you are going to imagine that you will teach a writing class and describe the following:

1. The grade you would choose to teach.
2. The topic your students are going to write about.
3. The specific instructions you will give to your students for every stage of the writing process.
- Pre-writing 
- Drafting
- Sharing and responding to writing
- Revising
- Publishing

Please be specific about every detail regarding your class and LABEL each stage of the writing process that you are explaining.
Remember that opinions cannot be exactly the same.

    3. Instructions

    Pre-writing
    *First my students will have to think about what makes a perfect day for them and share they ideas in class.
    Drafting
    *After choosing what their best day is, each student will write their introduction for the teacher to check it and make the necessary corrections.
    Sharing and responding to writing
    *When every student has finished their paper they will get into groups of five and read each of their papers for peer evaluation.
    Revising
    *After peer evaluation every paper will be handed to the teacher in order to read them and check for redaction and grammar.
    Publishing
    *After checking each paper the students will make the corrections indicated by the teacher.
    *When the papers have been corrected they will be post on a board for everyone to read them.

    Topic: My first school memories
    Instructions

    Pre-writing: Make list of ideas that they remember to share with their classmates.

    Drafting: The students will able to do a cluster, which is a visual map of ideas and concepts giving sufficient support to the topic.

    Sharing and responding to writing: All students have to choose a partner and will share how was the experience in that unforgettable moment.

    Revising: Check to see if the essay is correct and give other suggestions to better the redaction if required.

    Publishing: When the information is already corrected, the student have to write in a paper like a poster to be presented to all classmates.

    Topic: My first day at the School

    Drafting: The students will write that happened the first day in their school.

    Sharing and responding to writing: They make a group of six member each one and will share their writing with their classmates in aloud.

    Revising writing: The teacher will check the writing of their students and will correct the mistakes and give suggestion about their works.

    Publishing: the students will make a mural in their groups and present of all their classmates,

    2. Topic: I want to be a hero

    Instructions:

    Pre-writing
    •The students will gather in groups of four to discuss with the classmates about their favorite hero.
    Drafting
    •After choosing their hero, each group will write a short a story about him or her.
    Sharing and responding
    •When every group has finished their story, they will choose a classmate from the group to share and read the story in front of the whole class.

    Revising
    •After class evaluation every story will be handed to other groups in order to check the grammar and also to add an extra superpower to that hero.

    Publishing
    •The groups will draw the hero and also they will write each superpower
    •The groups will tell why they have chosen that extra superpower

    2. Topic: Their favorite place.
    3. Instructions:

     Pre- writing
    -Students will write a list of their places they want to write about in order to choose one.
    -After choosing the place, they will bring a picture of it.
    - The class and the teacher are going to help with the decision and will bring some ideas of the description of the place.

     Drafting.
    -Students will write about their favorite place and will use the picture to guide their writing.

    Sharing and responding to writing.
    -In pairs they will exchange their works so as that they can correct grammar mistakes and can respond offering ideas to better their works.

     Revising.
    -Students will present their works to the teacher.

     Publishing.
    -They will share their work throughout a clothesline.

    Prewriting: students will think and  they will say why they chose their best friends and try to remember one experience to share with their classmates.
    Drafting: students will write the ideas they remember and write about their friends and a experience.

    Revising writing: students will give back to the teacher the writing and the teacher will check grammar. Students will correct their mistakes.
    Revision activities include: students will make a poster with their writing.

  11. Grade: 2nd grade
    Topic: Pets at Home
    1. Pre-writing: in this stage we talk and listen to see what is the most common pet at home. They could name the pets at home. What is it that they like the most about their pets? What does your pet eats? What is his/her pets’ favorite food? Where does your pet sleeps? Does your pet like to play? How do you take care of your pet? All this just to acquire information for writing, or to talk about their own personal experience.
    2. Drafting: I could write an example on the blackboard as they write as well. If we don’t provide too much help, they can become more confident writers. They would have to think on the possible answers to the questions by responding to the who, what, when, where, why, how questions.
    3. Sharing and responding to writing: in this step students share their writing individually or in small groups, or show a sample or another student from another class as a go by. Providing positive to one another such as: “I also have a dog like yours and he likes to eat cookies too”.
    4. Revising writing: At this stage little kids tend to add something to a writing piece, they are not ready for revision. It is best to focus on one skill per writing project.
    5. Publishing: This stage of the writing process gives kid a reason for writing, it motivates them, they know that mom or dad or their friends at school may see it published at the bulletin board

    2. A Special Birthday
    3. Instructions

    Pre-writing:
    Students will do a brainstorm in which they list the most important activities they recall from that special day.
    Drafting:
    Students will make a sunshine outline and using it they will write different phrases that will help them write the whole work.
    Sharing and responding to writing:
    Students will work in groups of four and will read their work aloud to the members of their group in order to evaluate their writings.
    Revising Writing:
    Students will cut and paste the paper in order to rearrange their writing
    Publishing:
    The teacher will make a video of the students reading their writings and will present it to the class.

    2. My Favorite Tv Show
    3.Instructions

    Prewriting- 1.In groups of 3, they will discuss about the frequently main tv shows they see.
    2.They will choose, their favorite Tv Show.
    3.One by one they will pass infront of the classroom and tell their favorite Tv show.

    Drafting- In their composition, students will write the tittle, reason about why they really like the program and discribe which character is his|her favorite and why, also in which way this Tv show influence in them.

    Sharing and responding to write- The same groups of 3 students, will expose their composition and they will choose the best and the selected will relate to the class.

    Revising- The two other students of the group will correct the grammar mistakes, when students finish it, the teacher will get in the group and check their draf again in case that students does not check it good.

    Publishing- The teacher will give back the story to the student and he or she will share his|her composition.

    Topic: my best vacation
    Instruction
    1.prewriting: the students will think about their best vacation that they have.

    2.drafting: the students will think in their best vacation where, when, with who and why they think were the best vacation.

    3.sharing and responding to writing:
    The student is going to pass in from of the clase and is going to talk about the best vacation that they haveand his classmate can ask question.

    4. Revising and writing: the students will give an essay of the teacher, is going to check Gramma and correct the mistakes.

    5.publishing: the students are going to Make an album with some evidence of their vacation.

    2. The best vacation of my life
    3. Instructions
    Pre-writing: students will remember many details of their vacation and list them and tell the teacher and classmates
    drafting: the student should write the list of details in a paragraph to narrate to his classmates
    Sharing and responding to writing: the child must choose a partner and narrate how his experience was.
    Revising writing: the teacher will ask the students the notebook with the paragraph that he wrote about their experiences and then he will correct grammar mistakes and give suggestions for improvement in writing and of course he will mention his writing skills.
    Publishing: the student will make known his final work to his colleagues, can do it in many ways for example: murals, posters, bulletin board etc.

    3. Stages of the writting Process:
    *Pre-Writing
    -They think about places they want to visit.
    -Students will choose five places that they would like to visit.

    *Drafting:
    -Students will make an outline about places that they want to visit.
    -They will write specific things about what are you doing in that place? and Who would go with him or her?

    *Sharing and responding to write:
    -Each student will exchange their works with another partner so as that they can correct grammar mistakes.
    -They will read their essay in front of the class.

    *Revising:
    -They will present their essay.
    -The teacher will check the mistakes if necessary.

    *Publishing
    -They will search images about the places that they want to visit.
    -They will share their essay with their family or friends.

    2. My favorite season in the year.
    3. Instructions:

    1. Pre-writing:
    Teacher:present the topic using pictures.
    Students: They must describe in their own words the different station and they will choose which is their favorite station and they will think, beacuse it is their favorite station.

    2. Drafting: One a sheet they will write in a paragraph (8 lines). They will write reasons; Why is your favorite season? What activities can you do at that station? What clothes are used at that station? What accessories can be used at that station? (For their presentation they may use accessories and clothes that are used in different seasons).

    3.Sharing and responding to writing: In group of 4 each member read the paragraph and the rest or the group will listen.

    4. Revising: After sharing the reading of each paragraph in the different groups, the students will deliver their paragraph to their teacher and she will correct the grammar mistakes.

    5. Publishing: After checking each paragraph the students will make the corrections indicated by the teacher.
    -On the board there will be a space for each station and each child will read his paragraph and paste it into their respective space.

    Topic: my favorite character
    Pre writing: they will think about all the things they can remember of this character and why is it his/her favorite .
    Drafting: they will write all the ideas and things they know about it .
    Sharing and responding to writing : they will form groups of 5 and each one takes turns to read their paragraph . They could take into account the other memebers ideas.
    Revising:
    Each student does a silent reading and makes corrections of spelling and grammar mistakes .
    Publishing : they now work in pairs and exchange the paragraphs with a partner .

    Topic: writing your name

    *Pre Writing
    Say their name orally and because they believes their parents put that name.
    *Drafting
    Students wtite their names and mention that letters have.
    *Sharing and responding to write
    Observe the creations of their peers in small groups.
    *Revising writing
    Write a poster the correct names of each student, then each student find their name and see if this right. Finally corrects writing their names.
    *Publishing
    Students create a mural decorated with their names.

    Instructions:
    Pre-writing:Students Will name what kinds of pets they can have at home or which kind of Pet they would like to have.

    Drafting:braintorming about the kind of pets there are, things they can do with pets, cares That a pet needs, types of food they eat. When they are finished they should write a text about their pet using the ideas of the brainstorming.

    Sharing and responding to writing: In pairs they Will make an exchange and each student Will read what his/her partner wrote.

    Revising writing: they Will present the Work to their teacher Who Will review the Grammar and writing.

    Publishing: Students will add evidence like pictures of their pets and every think they wrote about them.

    topic: Discovering my emotions
    Instructions
    #Pre-writing: they mention in what moments of their life they have felt greatest emotions such as: love, friendship and what moment they have felt sadness.
    #Drafting: they write a sentence for ach emotion that they have felt.
    #sharing and responding to writing: the students will share their sentences in small groups.Their students will choose the words that they like.They will read those words to the teacher.
    #Revising:They will write a composition with the selected words by their classmates and the teacher will check the mistakes.
    #publishing: they will write a composition in a correct way as final work. Then they will paste their words on the wall.

    1. Pre-writing: Children will comment about their favorite animal, answering: What do you like most about that animal? What color is your favorite animal? Where does your favorite animal live?.
    2. Writing: the teacher will write a description of an animal on the board with the help of students, then students will be able to prepare the description of their favortito animal.
    3. Sharing and Responding to Writing: Students will be able to share their writing in small groups.
    4. Writing Review: Students will submit the written papers to the teacher to review, organize ideas, and correct mistakes.

    Pre-writing: Children will tell what their favorite animals are. What do these animals eat? Whether aquatic or terrestrial.
    Grade: I would like to teach 2nd grade.
    Topic: My favorite pet.
    Writing: Children can draw animals on the board and describe why, when, where.
    Sharing and responding to writing: Children can show pictures of animals and share with their companions, for example, what sound does each animal?
    Publication: the children will cut the animals that they find from a magazine and will put the names of each animal and the sounds they make.

    Student say what animal is their favorite pet.
    They think about it. In case that they have two or more, they have to choose only one.
    The teacher gives some ideas of how they can start.

    Also they write why is their favoite animal,and all that they do.

    Sharing and responding to writing:
    In pairs they exchange they works and that way they can correc mistake and help each other.

    Revising:
    Students give to the teacher their works and she checks it.

    They wil past in front and read their writing for all.

  26. Grade: 3rd grade
    Topic: All about plants

    1. Pre-writing: We could start by discussing the plant's life cycle, what do plant need, what do plants have, the parts of a plant, in this stage we try to acquire as much information as possible for their writing project.

    2. Drafting: The teacher can draw in the whiteboard, the parts of a plant, Roots, stem, leaves, flower, use the how, why, where, what questions to help them think on the answers.

    3. Sharing and responding to writing: This stage includes: Share and discuss an anonymous piece of writing, use peer conference groups and train students to use "PQP" (Positive feedback, questions to clarify meaning and suggestions to Polish writing).

    4. Revising writing: Children who are already for revision are anxious to see their own quality of content and clarify of expression.

    5. Publishing: This part of the process can include, putting writing on the walls, making a class newspapers, making a video of students reading pieces showing the variety of plants for example available in the school garden.
